Umm Ma’abad tent, Aramco, Saudi Arabia.

We are thrilled to share our latest project, "Umm Ma'bad's Tent at the Hijrah Exhibition," a remarkable installation that brought the past to life at the prestigious King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture - Ithra - Dharan.

Our dedicated team, led by Emma Joyston-Bechal and Samir Ait Ahmad, meticulously designed, produced, and installed this traditional camel hair tent, using ancient weaving techniques handed down by desert women. The exterior fabric, crafted from camel hair, showcases the exceptional qualities of natural wool, offering protection from the elements and ensuring durability in the harshest conditions.

Banquets for viewing were created out of wood and decorated with vintage Tuareg tent pegs. Emma sourced vintage blankets for the cushions. 40 vintage rugs with similar hues were selected by Emma throughout Morocco for the floor of the tent.
