Hijrah: In the Footsteps of the Prophet — Ithra
One of our greatest achievements was being selected to design, engineer, construct and install the monumental Umm Ma'bad tent for Hijrah: In the Footsteps of the Prophet at Ithra, Saudi Arabia. We designed the tent from scratch, drawing on historical research to achieve the highest possible level of authenticity, and then engineered a bespoke, stand-alone structural frame capable of supporting its substantial weight. We installed the complete structure within the exhibition hall, where it became a centrepiece of one of the exhibition's 14 galleries.
I personally curated 45 vintage Moroccan rugs sourced from across Morocco and designed and produced the seating for the public inside the tent. The project brought together historical research, traditional craftsmanship, structural engineering and contemporary exhibition design on an exceptional scale, and remains one of our proudest achievements.
